P2P Dispute Resolution & Appeals
While most P2P trades complete smoothly, disputes can arise. ByteExchange provides a structured appeal process to resolve conflicts fairly.
When to File an Appeal
As a Buyer:
- You sent payment but the seller has not released crypto
- The seller is unresponsive after the payment time limit
As a Seller:
- The buyer claims to have paid but you have not received the payment
- The buyer sent the wrong amount
- The buyer used a third-party payment account
How to File an Appeal
- In the active trade chat, click Appeal.
- Select a reason for the appeal.
- Upload evidence (screenshots of payment confirmation, bank statements, etc.).
- Add a description explaining the situation.
- Submit the appeal.
Appeals can only be filed during an active trade. Once crypto is released, appeals are not available.
Appeal Process
- Submitted — Your appeal is in the queue for review.
- Under Review — A ByteExchange moderator is examining the evidence from both parties.
- Resolution — The moderator makes a decision based on the evidence.
- Completed — Crypto is released to the rightful party.
Response Times
- Appeals are typically reviewed within 30 minutes to 4 hours.
- Complex cases may take up to 24 hours.
- Both parties are notified of the resolution.
Cancel an Appeal
If the issue is resolved between parties:
- Go to the trade and click Cancel Appeal.
- The trade returns to its normal state.
