Anti-Phishing Code Guide

Phishing attacks are one of the most common threats to cryptocurrency users. ByteExchange's anti-phishing code helps you verify that emails you receive are genuinely from us.

What Is an Anti-Phishing Code?

An anti-phishing code is a custom word or phrase that you set in your account settings. Every legitimate email from ByteExchange will include this code in the email body. If an email claims to be from ByteExchange but does not contain your code, it is a phishing attempt.

How to Set It Up

  1. Go to Settings > Security > Anti-Phishing Code.
  2. Click Enable.
  3. Enter a memorable code (4-20 characters). Choose something unique that only you would know.
  4. Verify with your 2FA code.
  5. Click Save.
Example: If your code is "BlueTiger42", every email from ByteExchange will display "Your Anti-Phishing Code: BlueTiger42" near the top of the email.

How to Use It

When you receive an email claiming to be from ByteExchange:

  1. Look for your anti-phishing code in the email.
  2. If the code is present and correct — the email is legitimate.
  3. If the code is missing or wrong — the email is a phishing attempt. Do not click any links.

Common Phishing Tactics to Watch For

  • Urgent language: "Your account will be suspended!"
  • Requests for your password or 2FA code
  • Links to domains that look similar but are not bexc.io
  • Unexpected attachment downloads

Tips

  • Change your anti-phishing code every few months.
  • Never share your anti-phishing code with anyone.
  • Bookmark bexc.io and always access ByteExchange through the bookmark.
  • Report phishing emails to security@bexc.io.
